Wakefield — The Wakefield Planning Commission adopted bylaws during its regular meeting on Tuesday night.
“Planning Commission bylaws are a necessary step in the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Redevelopment Ready Community program,” city manager Rob Brown said.
The bylaws delegate the process for the election of commission members, their terms of office, member removal and replacement and other details about meetings, records, quorum, conflicts of interest and duties.
The commission unanimously voted to implement the bylaws. Alternate Karen Manson participated in the meeting. Members Dan DelFaro and Marco Movrich were absent. The bylaws will now be submitted to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for review and inclusion in the city’s Redevelopment Ready Community portfolio. Copies of the bylaws are available at city hall.
The council once again tabled its discussion on permitting tiny homes. Brown said the city is just waiting for the attorney to provide ideas on the language for an ordinance.
“We gave him some ideas on what to look for. So he’s got to come up with: You can do this; you can’t do this,” said Brown.
Brown said the commission will be looking into where the tiny home will be permitted. He said they are not sure if they will allow them in all residential zones or select residential zones. Brown said that is one of the things they have asked the attorney is whether or not they can restrict by zones.
“It’s very early on,” Brown said.
