Helen Mary Novascone

ST. PAUL Minn. — Helen Mary Novascone, 91, of Eagan, Minnesota and formerly Bessemer, Michigan passed away with her family by her side on Monday, April 4, 2022, at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Helen Mary Novascone was born on Aug. 10, 1930, to parents Lozo Lunich and Francis Malovrh Lunich in Wakefield, Michigan.

Helen was employed at the Dandee Bakery in Bessemer and Big Powerderhorn Lodging and later became a homemaker. She lived most of her life in Bessemer, moving to Eagan to live with her daughter and son-in-law for her last two years of life. She will always be remembered for her love of family and friends, her spirituality and her kind heart. Helen was a faithful member of St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church, served on the Ladies Guild and helped serve funeral luncheon. She enjoyed ceramics and painting and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by son, Raymond “Howdy” (Yvonne) Novascone; daughter, Jackie (Steve) McGovern; grandchildren, Cassie (Ralph) Stewart, Jacob (Jessica) Novascone, Brennan and Connor McGovern; and her younger brother, Anthony “Tony” Lunich. Helen was also a proud grandma to five great-grandchildren and other very special family, Amy Lahti and her daughters, Tia and Breleigh. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Novascone; a brother, Joseph Lunich; and grandson, Kevin Lahti.

The family is grateful for the loving support of the Allina Hospice at Home program.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
