WAUSAU, Wis. - Jason "Lard" Asunto, 48, of Bessemer, Michigan, passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on Oct. 20, 1973, in Ironwood, Michigan, the son of Thomas and Susan (Orhn) Asunto. He attended local schools and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood in 1991. He then attended Superior Tech College for welding.
Jason loved his community and held many positions supporting it, most recently as a Bessemer area school bus driver. He touched many lives whether it was golfing at the country club, being active in bowling or dart leagues, or playing softball for the Bank Club. He loved playing cards, riding in the woods or out to the lakes with his dogs.
More recently he enjoyed making Tik Tok videos or makeup challenges. His family will miss sitting at the table and talking for hours, reminiscing about the good old days.
Most of all he enjoyed watching movies with his daughter. One of his proudest moments was when Jason and Brooke adopted their daughter, Nevaeh, on Feb. 3, 2021.
Along with all he did and enjoyed, he spent the last 26 years with the love of his life, Brooke, building so many memories together. He will always be remembered for his bear hugs, his gift of gab and his contagious laugh.
