WATERSMEET, Mich. - Connie Rogers, age 72 of Watersmeet, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Connie was born Oct. 19, 1949, in Austin, Texas, the daughter of Raymundo and Mary Rodriquez.
While she was working as a clerk typist at a nuclear plant run by the Atomic Energy Commission in Idaho, she met and married her beloved husband, Mike, and they were together for an incredible 49 years. After Mike was discharged from the Navy, they moved back to Watersmeet and then to Rudyard, where they raised their children and made many lifelong friends. Connie worked her entire life in the service industry and touched many lives with her hard work ethic, spunky humor, and kindness. They eventually moved back to Watersmeet, and built their retirement home. Connie enjoyed gardening, raising chickens (Connie's girls), making tortillas and bread, and enjoying the outdoors.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fred, Conrad and Richard; and sister, Helen. She is survived by her husband, Mike Rogers of Watersmeet; daughters, Mary Julien of Rainbow City, Alabama, and Maria Christine Rogers-Perry of Rudyard; sons, Joe (Lana) Rogers of Mattawan, and Bill (Theresa) Rogers of Orlando, Florida; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a brother, Daniel; and sisters, Adela and Beatrice. Family meant everything to Connie and she loved them all very much.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. for family, 11 a.m. to noon for the public, and a funeral Mass starting at noon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watersmeet. Following the mass, a luncheon celebrating Connie's life will be provided at the Watersmeet Community Center. After the luncheon, burial will be held at a site on their homestead that was very special to Connie and Mike.
The family would like to specifically extend their gratitude to Regional Hospice Services and Palliative Care, of Ironwood, and especially to Sarah Tucker, for her comfort, care and support.
