Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
IRONWOOD, Mich. - Nick Rudolph Pavlovich went to meet his beautiful wife, Carol, in heaven on Saturday, May 28. 2022. He couldn't wait any longer, even though his family wanted him to stay.
Nick lived a long, rich life. He was born on May 14, 1927, in Ironwood to John and Mary (Jelich) Pavlovich. He joined two older brothers, Michael and John. At 17, he took a break from high school to join the U.S. Navy, where he became a Seabee and was stationed in the South Pacific. He returned and finished school at Luther L. Wright High School. He was very proud of his service and his Croatian heritage and so is his family.
One day, he noticed the beautiful legs of a lovely young lady named Carol and complimented her on them. They married and had eight children, Stephen (Mary Lou), Richard (Theresa), Barbara Blake (David), Sandra Rossi (Robert), Daniel Pavlovich, Mary Reardon (David), Kerry Wilson (Rick), and Lori Holm (Jay). He had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nick worked in the iron mines and then had a long career with Michigan Bell Telephone. He also owned the Wigwam Bar for a number of years. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, and The Yugoslav Group - along with all of his children.
He always loved running into people he knew and was eager to strike up a conversation. He knew a lot of people!
Most importantly, he was our dad. our grandpa and great-grandpa. We loved him dearly.
We will miss his voice, his funny faces, his grilled chicken and lamb, and sitting on the deck with him while he fed chipmunks peanuts from his pockets.
Everything - him.
We would like to thank Dr. Villanueva and Holly Ramme from Aspirus Ironwood Clinic for being more than just providers. We would also like to thank the Ironwood Public Safety Department and first responders.
A memorial service will be held at McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home on Thursday, June 30, at 11 a.m. preceded by a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
The family has chosen McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home of Ironwood to honor Nick's legacy of life. You can leave a condolence or a tribute at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.
