Elizabeth Sweeney of Hayward, Wisconsin, claimed the $42,371 prize from the Bessemer Fourth of July 50-50 raffle on Thursday.
The winning ticket number was 32400 and was announced at the end of the parade on Monday. Tickets had been sold through the weeklong Bessemer Blast celebration. Organizers plan to use their part of the proceeds to fund the various events of next year’s celebration including the music, prizes and fireworks display.
Two other Fourth of July 50-50 raffles held in the area have also been claimed, as the winning tickets of the Bessemer Township and Marenisco raffles were redeemed on Wednesday.
The Bessemer Township Fourth of July committee announced the winning ticket No. 3462 before the fireworks display in Ramsay on July 2. A check for $12,322.50 was presented to the winner on Wednesday evening. Organizers did not release the winner’s name. Committee president Lisa Selin said the winner wishes to remain anonymous.
Craig Sorensen Jr., of Marenisco, claimed the Marenisco Fourth of July 50/50 raffle prize of $6,661 at the Marenisco Township Hall on Wednesday, with ticket No. 10027. Fourth of July planners will use the other half of the ticket sales for next year’s event.
The Wakefield Fourth of July Committee’s 50-50 prize of $35,000 was still unclaimed as of Thursday morning. The winning ticket No. 36598 was drawn on Monday. The owner of the ticket should contact committee member Marco Movrich at 906-224-7511.
