Arleen H. Schenk

WATERSMEET, Mich. - Arleen H. Schenk, 81, of Watersmeet, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.

She was born Aug. 5, 1940, at Lac Vieux Desert Indian Village, daughter of the late Joseph and Jessie (McGeshick) Pete.

Arleen was a beautiful gem of a woman who could light up a room with her smile. She had an unlimited love for her friends, family and tribal community. Even after giving all of that love, she still had enough love for her Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines. Her hobbies included hitting the pow-wow circuit, going one-on-one with a slot machine, and giving a friendly sneer to whoever just won the Bingo she was waiting for. Last but not least, she, without a doubt, made the best fry bread on Earth. Her loss is painful, but the many wonderful memories keep us smiling until we see her again.

Survivors include her four sons, Albert Jr., Alan, Arthur and Aaron Schenk; two brothers, Gary and Joseph Pete; two sisters, Delores Williams and Sharon Pete; 13 grandchildren, Albert III, Melanie, Alexander, Marcus, Leah, Edwin, Nicole, Katelyn, Sarah, A.J., Addison, Richard and Shoni; and seven great-grandchildren, Augusta, Ashley, Emily, Autumn, Orion, J.W. and Verona.

In addition to her parents, Arleen was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Schenk; one grandson, Walter; and one sister, Joyce.

Services will be held, Thursday, July 28, at 10 a.m., at the Lac Vieux Desert Spiritual Center in Watersmeet.

Friends may leave condolences and tributes to Arleen's family online at jacobsfuneralhomes.com.

The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Crystal Falls to honor Arleen's legacy of life.
