BESSEMER, Mich. - Rose Marie (Cerne) Anderson, 95, a longtime resident of Bessemer, passed away on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022.
Rose was born on Feb. 24, 1927, in Bessemer, a daughter of Anton and Rose (Markovich) Cerne. She attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer and graduated in 1945.
Rose was employed at various offices in Racine, Wisconsin, Chicago and Los Angeles. While employed at Holmes and Narver Engineering Company in Los Angeles, she received several certificates for secret work with the Atomic Energy Commission at the Marshall Islands. Rose returned to her hometown and was employed locally.
She was a devout Catholic and faithfully attended St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. Rose enjoyed fishing and hunting with her husband, Clifford, playing cards with her friends and going to the casino.
Rose is survived by a sister, Anne Rourke, Santee, California; four cherished nephews and nieces, Tony (Francine) Cerne, L'Anse, Daniel Rourke, Santee, Linda Cerne, Los Angeles, and Paul (Teri) Stiegelmar, Lake Havasu, Arizona; and numerous precious great-nephews and great-nieces. She will always be remembered by her nephews and nieces plus others as "Auntie Rosie."
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Clifford, in 1989; twin brothers and two sisters-in-law, Tony (Margaret) Cerne and Victor (Marcie) Cerne; and a sister and brother-in-law, Frances (Gerald) Stiegelmar.
Rite of Committal will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Dominic Agyapong, pastor of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, will preside. Interment will follow.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield, who provided comfort and loving care to Rose while she was a resident. Special acknowledgements are given to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital, Gogebic-Ontonagon Community Action Agency and Jerald Rocco for their many kindnesses and professional assistance.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rose's name to the charity of your choice.
