RAMSAY, Mich. — On Sept. 21, 2022, beloved husband, Donald J. Chiapuzio, passed to be with our Lord and with friends and family who preceded him.
Don was born in Bessemer, the son of William Paul Chiapuzio Sr. and Gertrude Agnes Chiapuzio. Don attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer. In his early working career he was a certified auto mechanic and later drove a log truck for Steiger's and Carl Niemi. Don volunteered his time to help with the catastrophic clean up for the disaster of Hurricane Katrina.
Don was preceded in death by a brother, William Paul Chiapuzio II; a sister, Theresa Pecotte/Cummings; a nephew, Greg Pecotte; a nephew, Kevin Chiapuzio; a daughter, Beth Durant; grandson, Zachery, and a baby grandson, Jordan Kivi. Don has one surviving sister, Diane (Patrick) Ryan.
With his friend and first wife, Kathy (Fritz) Kircher, they had two children that Don was very proud of — the first born, Jamie (Tara) Chiapuzio; and daughter, Crystal Force. He is also survived by his wife, Julie Chiapuzio; daughter, Geri Jylha-Wilson; son, William (Janice) Wilson; daughter, Robin Wilson. Don is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including Billy (Wendy) Chiapuzio; brother-in-law, Kim (Cheryl) Kruger; physicians assistant John Friedli and his assistant Kristen; and long time friend, Dr. Chris Pogliano.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Church, N10344 Mill St., in Ramsay. A celebration of Don's life will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. with Rev. Todd Winkler officiating. A luncheon will be served at the church fellowship hall following the service.
