WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Joseph James Buchko Sr., 80, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022.
Joseph was born on Feb. 16, 1942, at the family home, in Wabeno, Wisconsin, to loving parents, Joseph John and Marion Caroline (Peterson) Buchko.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years.
On Oct. 22, 1990, Joseph married the love of his life, Rebecca Mattila, in Ironwood.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Rebecca; three children, Lori (Jeffrey) Ahola, Bessemer, Joe Buchko Jr. (Mary), Phelps, Wisconsin, and Jessica (Cesar) Donayre, Mankato, Minnesota; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Gheller and Claudette (Clyde) Taivalmaa; many nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law, Renee Mattila; and other loving relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gerald and Ronald; and a sister, Joan Wrege.
At his request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of the Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, is assisting the family with their arrangements.
