FOLEY, Ala. — Julie FlemingSmith passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Foley, on Sept. 23, 2022.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1958. She was a 1977 graduate of Ewen-Trout Creek High School. She played first clarinet in the band and lettered in track four years. She held the high jump record for many years and was voted best musician in her class.
Julie met and married the love of her life, Jimmy Smith, in Colorado. Jimmy passed away in 2007 and Julie moved to Foley, where her parents spent the winter, to be closer to family. She was a loving, gentle and artistic soul, who loved music and her cats. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her mother, Margaret "Sis" Fleming; and her sister and brother-in-law, Janice Fleming and Mark Williams.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Floyd Fleming; and her husband, Jimmy Smith.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Twilly's in Bruce Crossing. Friends and family are invited to attend.
