MERCER, Wis. — Mercer hosted its annual Northwoods Winter Wonderland celebration on Saturday. People lined the highway to watch the parade as it made its way to the Chamber of Commerce office where a large wreath was place on the Clair d’Loon statue and the community tree was lit.

According to Melissa Copp of the Mercer Chamber, people seemed to be having a great time at the Mercer Community Center following the parade, as they gathered around for hot chocolate, cider, cookies and crafts, and a chance to tell Santa what they hoped to get this year.

“The Mercer Chamber of Commerce hosts the event, but we certainly could not do this alone. We partner with a lot of different community members and community organizations,” said Copp. “It allows us to come together as a community and celebrate this day, and hopefully throughout the season.”

Besides the activities at the community center, there was also an outdoor market with vendors set up at the Pines Restaurant.

Copp explained that despite the weather, people made it out to participate in the various events.

“”I think it went smoothly. They braved the cold to be here,” she said. “It was probably a little bit colder this year, but I think everyone was fine. You just prepare for it, bundle up a little bit more.”
