Joyce Marie McDonald

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Joyce Marie McDonald, 94, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022.

Joyce was born on March 30, 1928, in Trout Creek, a daughter of John and Lillian (Ojala) Maki. She graduated from Trout Creek High School in 1946.

On June 1, 1946, Joyce married William McDonald, who preceded her in death in 2016, after 70 years of marriage.

Joyce worked at the Hanson Glove Factory in Ironwood for several years and then was a retail clerk at Stern & Field until her retirement.

She enjoyed bird hunting, fishing and spending time at their camp with all of her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by two children, William (Judy) McDonald and Nancy Osier; five grandchildren, Patrick McDonald, Michelle Miklesh, Erin Helgeson, Matthew McDonald and Amy Pagel; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joanne (Jim) Revoyr and Lynn Paquette; a brother, Jim (Diana) Maki; along with many nephews and nieces.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, George Osier; three sisters, Florence, Margie and Janet; and two brothers, John and Robert.

No service will be held at her request.

The family of Joyce McDonald would like to thank the staff at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield for the wonderful care that was given to her. She loved being there.
