IRONWOOD, Mich. - Betty Ruth (nee Duffer) Mathis, 85, of Ironwood, was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on Feb. 26, 1937, and passed away through heavenly gates on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023.
Betty was the oldest daughter of William Duffer and Betty Burnett Thacker.
On Sept. 11, 1955, she married Wayne J. Mathis in Long Beach, California.
Betty is survived by her loving husband, Wayne; three children, Wayne Mathis II, Rhonda (Mark) Colberg and Brett Mathis (Sandy); like a daughter, Sharon Lepinski-Dalbec; her beloved grandchildren, Heather (Eric) Kinsella, and their children, Gavin and Payton, Christina Colberg (Baron), Nathan Colberg, Emily Mathis and Dusty Mathis; two sisters, Pat Lovin and Terri (Clark) Shull; Wayne II's stepchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; three sisters, Peggy Miller, Sherry Harre and Linda Carter; and a brother, Thomas Duffer.
Betty and Wayne enjoyed many life experiences together including going to church at the Havenwood Baptist Church, wintering in Florida, hunting, camping trips, rummage sales, flea markets, golfing and much more. She was a crafter of all crafters. If there was a group or an association to join, Betty was all in. She will be missed by many.
Services will be held at a later date.
Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
