Connie Jean Aho

IRONWOOD, Mich. — With great sadness, Connie Jean Aho, age 75, left our world on Jan. 14, 2023, with her family by her side. She will reunite with the love of her life, Phil “Scrappy” Aho.

Connie was born on May 5, 1947, graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in 1965 and married Phil on July 24, 1965. She became certified as a CNA and an EMT, worked for Beacon Ambulance, for numerous years at Grandview Hospital and Howard Young Medical Center, and finished her career working at Avanti Home Health until she became ill.

This amazing lady raised eight children, at times working three jobs. She dedicated her life to her family and to helping others. Her personality was bigger than life. She could make you smile and laugh when you needed it and always knew just what to say to make you feel special. People looked to her for advice and support. She not only spent her life teaching and raising her own children, but was always there for her children’s friends and helped educate the future health care workers during her years of working.

She was a devoted wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma, and despite all the joking in the family on who her number one child was, she truly loved all of them equally. She never judged her children, always supported them and even during hard times, she had a gift to guide them in the right direction.

Her hobbies were spending time with family, going to the casino with her great long-time friend Nancy and her passion to care for people. She will be missed by many for her gift to care for people, her commitment to others and always putting herself last. This is what made her the angel she was and she will be taken into heaven with open arms.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Phil; her parents, Paul and Eva Saari; and her sister, Darlene Saari.

She is survived by her children, Paul (Noel) Aho, Deb (Dave) Hoffman, Phil (Becky) Aho, Michele (Paul) Harma, Renee Fabbri, Tee Jay (Shawna) Aho, Levi and Denim Aho; by grandchildren, David (Stefanie) Hoffman, Derrick Hoffman, Dylan (Katrina) Hoffman, Hanna (Jason) Thompson, Payton (Matt) Dary, Paige Aho, Eli, Olivia and Ari Harma, Nathan (Amanda) Fabbri, Gabe (Molly) Fabbri, Isabel (Cha) Vang, Madelyn and Logan Aho and Copper and Cally Aho; by great-grandchildren, Jace and Tiffany Hoffman, Sophia, Ezekial, Tesla and Eva Fabbri, Amae, Grayson and Xia Vang; by sisters, Geraldine (Wayne) Reynolds, Polly Saari, Susie (Lee) Leinon, Cindy Sequin and Cheryl Jilek; and special friends Nancy Laverdure and Mary Miskovich.

A private family gathering will take place at a future date.
