IRONWOOD, Mich. - Myrna Mae Lauzon, 91, of Ironwood, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood.
She was born in Pence, Wis., on May 8, 1931, the daughter of Louis and Frances (Chiapuzio) Bertoluzza. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Hurley High School, where she graduated in 1949. She worked at several jobs after high school, most notably at Range Beverage in Hurley, where she was a secretary.
On April 11, 1959, Myrna married Thomas Lauzon of Ironwood at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. They made their home in Ironwood and were blessed with 54 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 9, 2014. She worked as a loving mother and homemaker as they raised five children together. A devout Catholic, Myrna was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood.
She is preceded in passing by her husband, Thomas Lauzon; parents, Louis and Frances Bertoluzza; and her grandson, Steve Lauzon.
Myrna is survived by children, Joseph, Ironwood, Claude (Dong), Green Bay, Mary (Tom) Buchko, Ironwood, Louis, Ironwood, and Gerard (Heidi), Ironwood; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marguerite Pavlovich, Poplar, and Priscilla Kimball, Muskego; siblings-in-law Joan Bennetts, Traverse City, Donna Sullivan and Sybil (Joe) Giorgianni, both of Marquette, and John (Luise) Lauzon, Hernando, Mississippi; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family Room at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Brian Gerber, celebrant. Luncheon will follow in the parish hall.
Rite of Committal and internment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood in the spring.
