LITCHFIELD, Minn. - Thomas "Tom" G. Tupper, 76, of Litchfield, passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
Private family service and interment will take place in the spring at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, Michigan.
Tom was born on July 2, 1946, in Ironwood, Michigan, the fourth child of Bert and Dorothy (Booker) Tupper. In 1965, he graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer.
While in high school, he ran track as a high hurdler and qualified for state. After graduating, he enrolled at the Dunwoody Institute to study mechanical drafting. Tom graduated from college in 1967. He worked around 40 years with a successful career as a plastics engineer. Tom held at least six patents, including fitness equipment like the Jane Fonda treadmill and Tonka trucks. He belonged to the Society of Plastics Engineers and traveled to such places as Europe, China, 10 islands in the Gulf, and most large cities in Canada on business. He also visited 35 states, Hawaii and Cancun, taking time to golf in each place when he could.
During his off-time, Tom enjoyed woodworking, watching sports, skiing and golfing. He was known to tell good stories. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchild, and was very proud of them. He also loved his Bichon Frise, Snickers, a dog he never planned on getting.
Surviving Tom are his children, Greg (Alyssa Rex) Tupper and Kimberly (Mark) Olson; stepson, Lee (Sara) Thernell; his grandchildren, Kyle (Melanie) Olson, Maison Olson, Martin Tupper, Tyler Thernell, Myriam Tupper and Harper Thernell; his great-granddaughter, Lillian Olson; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings and their spouses, Donna Jean and Glen Danielson, Mary Ann and Al Facchinello, and Duane "Buzz" Tupper.
