CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. - Thomas Patrick Sholar, age 77, passed away April 14, 2023, at the Chippewa Falls Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls. He was a Vietnam veteran.
Tom was born Oct. 2, 1945, to Joseph and Lucille (Paul) Sholar in Wakefield, Michigan. He grew up in Ramsay, Michigan, and graduated from A. D. Johnston High School in 1963. In 1973, he graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He often told the story that George Bush Sr. spoke at his commencement.
In his younger days, he enjoyed playing hockey. He was given the nickname "Crowbar" due to the way he used his hockey stick. He also loved to play his guitar and sing silly songs like "Daisy on my Toe." Tom was the life of every party.
Tom is survived by his daughters, Amy Literski, Jennifer (Patrick) Saxe and Brooke Sholar; brothers, Joe (Jean) Sholar and Ted (Rachel) Sholar; nephews, Vince Wettberg and Tim Sholar; nieces, Tania Sholar and Annie Sholar; grandson, Adam (Lydia) Literski; and granddaughter Kasey Literski.
Graveside services will be held by the family at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, Michigan, later this summer.
