WATERSMEET, Mich. - Delores Ann Williams (Biwashikwe), 77, of Watersmeet, peacefully started her journey with her family beside her in the physical world on May 21, 2023, at Villa Maria Rehabilitation Center in Hurley, Wisconsin.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1946, in Watersmeet, daughter of the late Joe and Jessie (McGeshick) Pete. Delores is survived by her children, James (Toni) Williams Jr., Jeanie Williams, Vickie Williams and Kenneth Pete; and siblings, Gary Pete, Joe Pete Jr. and Sharon Pete.
Delores adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ashley Pete, Joseph Pete, James Williams III (Theodore and Leon Williams), Darren Williams (Royce Williams), Reighn McGeshick (Kenneth, Benny and Remmy McGeshick), Storm McGeshick (Nind'e and Mookam Barrett), Tori McGeshick (Jeremiah Jr. and Mahalia Solis), Kayne Williams, Justice Lemery, Trysta Lillian Williams, Garrett Williams, Laynee Williams, Edmond Williams, Faith Ward, Maddysun White and Jaxsun White.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lilly Williams; and siblings, Arleen Schenk and Joyce Pfister.
Delores spent her career dedicated to the betterment of her LVD community. She played vital roles in her community serving as Lac Vieux Desert HR Director, Behavioral Health Director, as well as serving on the Lac Vieux Desert Tribal Council.
Delores was inspirationally selfless, generous and long-suffering. She always put others first. She was known to her family for her witty humor and delicious food, flavored with so much love. Delores enjoyed spending time with siblings, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Despite her hardships and injustices, Delores faced throughout her life, her resilience, strength and bravery will continue to inspire us.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Villa Maria and hospice for the extraordinary care given to Delores and their generous hospitality to the family members. A special thank you to all of those who have helped Delores on her journey.
Visitation services were held at the Cane Funeral Home-Bruce Crossing Chapel on Tuesday, May 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. Friends and family were also invited to attend a celebration of life gathering and feast on Wednesday, May 24, at 10 a.m. at the LVD Recreation Center at E23975 Pow Wow Trail in Watersmeet.
Delores was buried next to her daughter, Lilly, in the Watersmeet Cemetery.
The Cane Funeral Home-Bruce Crossing Chapel is assisting the family.
