HURLEY, Wis. - Jon Anthony "Tony" Calgaro, 50, of Hurley, passed away on May 10, 2023 at Aspirus Hospital in Ironwood, Michigan.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1972, in Sturgis, Michigan, to Gerald and Mary (Vittone) Calgaro. Tony enjoyed fishing and spending time in nature. He had a loving family at Super One in Ironwood where he worked.
Tony was a man of many talents and a congenial humanitarian. He was a warrior as he sought for justice and truth - the American way, usually by being informed by VCY radio.
He was artistic and would endeavor to rebuild cars. He would not want to hurt or kill anything. If confronted with a fight he would talk himself out of it. Tony enjoyed this Northwoods home, away from the California busy city and traffic. His encouraging demeanor was evident when he would say, "Don't worry. We'll get it done."
He is survived by his mother, Mary, Hurley; brother, Alan, Poway, California; sisters, Lynn (John) Simmons, Chino Valley, Arizona, and Janette (Andrea) Brancado, Carlsbad, California; and nieces and nephews, Alexa (Kanj), Dominic and Gino Calgaro, and Liliana Brancado.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Ironwood. A visitation will be held prior beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Following the service a light luncheon will be held.
"Have a glorious day."
