LaNetta Lea 'Lanie' Ramme

IRONWOOD, Mich. - LaNetta Lea "Lanie" Ramme, a longtime resident of Ironwood, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Lanie was 72 years old at the time of her passing.

Lanie was born on April 7, 1951, to the late Arthur and Francis (Snarski) Moselle. She was raised in Gile, Wisconsin, and was a graduate of J.E. Murphy High School. During the summer of 1969, Lanie met the love of her life, Herb, at the Hamilton Club in Montreal, Wisconsin. They were married on April 24, 1971, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, Wisconsin.

Together, they had two sons, Kurt and Brad. Kurt was born at Divine Infant Hospital in Wakefield, where he passed away shortly after birth on Sept. 17, 1972. Four years later, Lanie's dream of motherhood came true when they welcomed their son, Brad, into the world on July 29, 1976.

On April 24, 2021, Lanie and Herb celebrated 50 years of marriage, an accomplishment that meant the world to them. To celebrate the joyous occasion, they traveled to Green Bay, Wisconsin, to celebrate with their son, Brad and his family. During the night, special pictures were taken as they reminisced about how they met and all of the big life events that they shared together.

For more than 30 years, Lanie took care of many children in her in-home daycare, Tiny Tots Daycare. Lanie loved the joy the children gave her and loved them all as her own. She was sought after by many parents because of her kind, gentle and nurturing touch. Her kids, to this day, would come back to visit, which brought so much happiness to Lanie.

She had a love for dogs, especially her English Cocker Spaniels. Over the years, she cared for and loved Star, Casey, Diva and Wesley. Her heart truly belonged to her family, whom she loved dearly. Her grandsons, Brett and Drew, however, were her pride and joy. She was so proud to show them off and brag about them to all. She was able to attend many of their events as they were growing up. Many evening conversations with her loving husband revolved around them, who she loved so dearly.

Lanie is survived by her husband, Herb; her son, Brad (Amy), and their children, Brett and Drew, all of Iron Mountain; her niece, Kelli Massie (Bob Lanier), Gile; two sisters-in-law, Carla Ash, Marquette, and Dory (George) Cruz, Ironwood; her brother-in-law, Kyle (Holly) Ramme, Ironwood; and many nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Francis Moselle; her sister, Christine Steiner; her brother-in-law, Frank Steiner; and her infant son, Kurt. She was further preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herbert and Marlene Ramme; and her sister-in-law, Cherie Massoglia.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 12, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the Lakeside Memorial Chapel, 806 Putnam St., in Wakefield. The Rev. Hrudaya Raju Sunkara, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will officiate.
