LINCOLN, Ill. - Marvin E. Knutilla, 90, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Copper Creek Villages in Lincoln.
Funeral services for Mr. Knutilla were held on Friday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln with Pastor Ellen Anderson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lincoln.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
Marvin Eugene Knutilla was born on Jan. 10, 1933, in Ironwood, Michigan, the son of Carl H. and Signe Erickson Knutilla. He was united in marriage to Ruth M. Rajala on Sept. 17, 1955. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2018.
He is survived by his children: Keith (Cynthia) Knutilla, Martin (Judy) Knutilla, Lynn (Steve) Andersen and Beth (James) Hoferitza; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joann Badouski.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and one grandson.
Marvin graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood and then from Valparaiso Tech School in Indiana. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. While in the Navy he circumnavigated the world. Marvin was proud to have completed an Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C.
He retired from IBM as a computer engineer. Marvin enjoyed traveling and he visited many countries. He also enjoyed playing softball in Sebring. In Wheeling, he was a member of the VFW and Jaycees, and served as Scoutmaster Commissioner for Troop 212.
