BESSEMER, Mich. - James Anthony Cebolski, 86, of Bessemer, passed on to eternal life on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital.
Jim was born on Aug. 17, 1936, in Bessemer, the son of Pearl and John Cebolski. He graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in 1954.
Jim worked in his younger years whitewashing barns. He went on to work at the White Pine Copper Mine and the city of Bessemer. Jim then worked for his father at the company his father started and he eventually became the owner and operator of the business, Cebolski Construction Company, where he worked until retirement.
On Nov. 26, 1960, Jim married Karin R. Liedtke. They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year.
Some of Jim's greatest joys were gardening and entertaining people at his infamous "beer garden." He was overjoyed when family and friends came up to visit, and loved hosting parties and cookouts.
Jim is survived by his wife, Karin; two daughters, Linda (Neal) Nelson and Kristin (Mike) King; a son, Scott (Dana) Cebolski; four grandchildren, Amanda, Alec, Brittney and Hannah; four great-grandchildren, Lori, Morgan, Cody and Ryder; a sister, Margaret Fudaley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lori; three sisters, Muriel, Charlene and Bonnie; two brothers-in-law; and numerous other family members.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on the day he was initially given life, Aug. 17, at the infamous "beer garden" from 3 – 7 p.m.
Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, is assisting the family with arrangements.
