Joy Lynne Venetjoki

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Joy Lynne Venetjoki, 72, of Ironwood, passed away on Aug. 1, 2023. She was born Feb. 26, 1951.

Joy lived a full and warm life, filled with happiness. She will be forever remembered and greatly missed. Family was beyond everything to Joy, filling her heart with pride, a value she instilled in all those who loved her. She was our biggest cheerleader and our constant supporter.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace Lehto and Lorraine Hastings; a sister, Gail (Larry) Choronzy; two brothers, Michael Lehto and Todd Lehto; and first husband, John Babich.

She is survived by her husband of almost 30 years, Hannu Venetjoki, and children, Michael (Brandy) Babich and Christina (Mark) Bolen; and siblings, Debbie (John) Blank, Darlene (KJ) Gray, Gary (Fern) Lehto, Randy (Clovia) Lehto, Sharon (Comello) Switzer, Diane (George) Goerig and Joanne (Scott) Carlson. She is also survived by her beloved and cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Aunica, Christian, Alyssa, Caitlyn, Zach, Nicholas, Austin, Joseph and Lauren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also leaves behind her precious dog, Peanut.

Cremation has occurred and a celebration of life will take place on Sunday Sept. 3, at the Norrie Amateur Sports Club in Ironwood from noon to 3 p.m. All are welcome.
