Marcia J. Smith

BESSEMER, Mich. - Marcia J. Smith, 76, of Bessemer, Michigan, passed away on Sept. 28, 2023.

She was born in Pontiac, on Dec. 24, 1946, to Dorothea and Kenneth Hanson. Marcia attended Waterford Township High School.

She was married to the love of her life, Roger, for 49 incredible years. He said he wished it could have been for 149 years. She was tough as nails, with a heart of gold and a wicked pinky hold.

She loved all things the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. The radio or televesion was always on if a game was being played.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She also never met a child she did not love straight away. She made friends with everyone she met along the way.

She loved the outdoors, campfires, and everything it comes with: birds, deer, raccoons, etc. She just loved being outside.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Ronald Hanson; and grandson, Jacob Arcouette.

She is survived by her husband, Roger B. Smith of Bessemer, Michigan; children, Annie Sutherland (Debra Smith) of Pinckney, Suzanne (Smith) and Rick Haines of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Jason Smith and Tracie (Tanczer) Smith of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Shaitanya (Arcouette) and Micheal Mudgett of Laconia, New Hampshire, Ethan and Owen Smith of Lawrenceburg; great-grandchildren, Bailee and Noah Miller of Laconia; and siblings, Sharon (Hanson) Brown, and Kevin and Gail Hanson, both of Pontiac.
