Ironwood Township
Voters in Ironwood Township voted to renew an existing millage for four years for the purpose of maintaining township roads.
The measure passed 251 to 91, or 73% yes and 27% no.
According to the ballot language, the request for 1 mill will be reduced to .9926 mills by required millage rollbacks and renewed at up to that .9926 mills figure as it is levied for four years, 2024 to 2027.
Supervisor Jay Kangas said voters have approved this four-year millage twice before, in 2015 and 2019.
Erwin Township
Erwin Township voters agreed to renew 10 mills ($10 per $1,000 of taxable value) for general operation purposes for the township from 2023 to 2027.
The renewal passed 61 to 9, or 87% yes and 13% no.
The levy will raise an estimated $128,488 in the first year, according the ballot language, adding: “This is the millage rate that has been in effect from 2018-2022 and represents a renewal of that millage rather than an increase.”
