IRONWOOD, Mich. - George Howard Plaistow of Ironwood went to eternal life on Dec. 3, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.
George was born Dec. 12, 1947, to Howard and Ruth Plaistow of Ironwood.
George attended the Ironwood schools and went into the service and served in Vietnam.
He became a member of the Ironwood American Legion and later served as commander following in his father's footsteps.
George was a long time resident of Ironwood and was very active in the community.
George's parents, Ruth and Howard Plaistow, preceded George in death, along with his brothers, William and Jack Plaistow.
He is survived by his brothers, Percy Smith (Mary McCullough), Joseph Plaistow (Louise Stitch) and Neil Plaistow (Vicki Austrum); sister-in-law, Marilyn Maki Plaistow; his daughter, Lori Abney; niece, Brittany Plaistow Forstorm; and many other nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by many friends and relatives.
A military service will be held in the spring for George.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff from St. Mary's. The staff was very friendly and made sure that George was well taken care of.
