Jason Juno/The Globe A Christmas tree lights up the night sky at the corner of Silver Street and U.S. 51 Friday night in downtown Hurley. The little snow that was on the ground didn't last the weekend, making for an extremely rare brown Christmas locally. The last time Ironwood recorded zero inches of snow on the ground on Christmas Day was 1931, according to Greg Sova, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Negaunee Township. Much of, if not all of, the Upper Peninsula experienced a brown Christmas.
