Robert 'Bob' Charles Schonberg

BESSEMER, Mich. - Robert "Bob" Charles Schonberg, 77, of Bessemer, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 22, 1946, in Fargo, North Dakota, to the late Wilford and Mayme (Anderson) Schonberg.

Many remember Bob by his boisterous laugh and most likely had a nickname for those he cared deeply for. He enjoyed skiing, boating, snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, driving anywhere or everywhere, finding a good bargain, and topping it all off with a cigar. He loved his friends and would do anything he could for them, even if it meant he would go without.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Gamboni; three brothers and their wives; six sisters and their husbands along with all their children; son, Tucker and Andi (nee Love) Schonberg, and their children, Ben and Max; a daughter, Mollie and Barry Jacobs, and their children Sam (Kristin), Gabe (Marilyn), Caleb, Gabe and Zoe; great-grandchildren, Oliver and Ayden; sister, Jane and late Steven Chase, and children, Adam and Kathryn, and Duncan and Alicia and their children, Angus and Astrid.

He was preceded in death by his eldest sister, Rhoda Johnson, with living children Lisa (nee Johnson) and Leo Zubryckyj and their children Austin and Jenner, and Craig Johnson.

A celebration of Robert's life will be announced at a later date.

The family has chosen McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home of Ironwood to honor Robert's legacy of life.
