MONTREAL, Wis. - Robert "Bob" J. Trombi, 91, of Montreal, passed away on Jan. 3, 2024.
Bob was born on July 25, 1932, in Montreal, to Joseph and Florence (Garreau) Trombi.
Bob attended Montreal grade school and J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy in Korea on the USS New Jersey. After discharge from the Navy in 1954, he worked in construction most of his life for local companies and in Illinois until his retirement in 1994.
Bob spent his life as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with family. He also loved spending time at the hunting camp, playing cards and cribbage.
On Sept. 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Helen Lucille Wiener at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mellen. She preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 2017.
Bob is survived by a son, Jim (Lisa) of Eagle River, Alaska; and daughter, Jean (Ted) Koplin of Yorkville, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Randy Koplin of Yorkville, Eric Koplin of Yorkville, Paul (Sara) of Sandwich, Illinois, Brittany (Geoff) of Sandwich, Nikki (Cisco) of Wasilla, Alaska, Cassie (Anakwad) of Anchorage, Alaska, and Chase of Eagle River, Alaska; and 10 great-grandchildren, Helaina, Kole, Hunter, Fisher, Charlotte, Joseph, Aelin, Ethen, Brooklyn and Rowen. Bob is also survived by his sister, Diane "Bunny" Maffesanti; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Besides his wife, Helen, and his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy, on Oct. 27, 2005; a brother, Richard, and sisters, Nancy Heino, Polly Popovich, Donna Lipski, Judy Ciatti, Janice Berglund, Carole Semenak and Debbie Zakovec.
Bob is sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
Out of respect for his wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 19, at 11:30 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. Luncheon will follow in the parish hall.
Rite of Committal and inurnment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hurley, in the spring.
