Doris Ann Begalle

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Doris Ann (King) Begalle, age 85, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay after a short battle with lymphoma.

Doris was born in 1938 to Marie (Carignan) and Dona King in Cornell and grew up on a farm in Flat Rock. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church through most of her lifetime.

She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" J. Begalle on July 12, 1958. They lived in Bessemer, Michigan, for 11 years before moving to Flat Rock.

Doris was a homemaker, who was devoted to her family and friends. She always kept a spotless home and yard. After Bob retired from Mead Paper, they enjoyed traveling on tour buses throughout the United States and spending a little bit of winter in Florida. She loved spending summers at their cottage on Lake Gogebic. She was an avid baker and gardener, loving to grow dahlias and in later years having her favorite begonias in planters all over. Her favorite times were doing anything outdoors, including raking leaves. She was an avid NASCAR fan, attending the Daytona 500 three times.

Doris is survived by her husband of 65 years; daughters, Debbie (Steve Milford) Begalle and April (Randy) Johnson; son, Larry (Vicky) Begalle; sisters, Rose (Leon) Dunst and Bonnie (Mark) Jackson; brother, Donald King; sister-in-law, Carole Mattila; grandchildren, Tara (Jim Louisell) Johnson, Rhett (Amy) Johnson, and Mary and Catherine Milford; nephew, Jeff (Karen) Begalle; nieces, Amanda (Jay) Van Damme and Becky Heidbrier; and two great-grandchildren, Poppy and Benji Johnson.
