Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
IRONWOOD, Mich. - Jacqueline L. Milewski, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Eugene "Geno" Milewski; three daughters, Diana (Jim) Alexandroni, Donna Milewski-Dorner and Debbie (Jeff) Lekies; grandchildren, Barbie Esterline, Robby Lampart, Nicki (Chris) Hudson, Janelle "Jelly" Lekies, Carissa VanVonderen and Alesha Dorner; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Flavella and George Nicholas; and brothers, George and Jerry Nicholas.
Jackie was born on Nov. 22, 1938, in Ironwood. She graduated from Luther L. Wright High School where she admired her classmates (Janet Hollingsworth) and their continued friendships throughout the years. Jackie married Geno in 1961 and, together, welcomed three beautiful girls into their lives. She worked at Lake Superior District Power Company, and then as a bookkeeper for their family business, M&M Plumbing and Heating. Her favorite job was being a homemaker and a fantastic mother. Her pastimes included watching the VFW and American Legion slow-pitch games, attending the Gogebic County stock car races and relaxing at Lake Gogebic.
Jackie was exceptionally passionate about her horses and could often be found enjoying the harness races with her race family, Cherie and the late Danny DeRizzo, and their children, Danny and Tracy. She sponsored many harness races, memorializing her late father, George, and late brother, Jerry, at the Gogebic County Fair. Jackie instilled the love of horses and racing into her children and many of her grandchildren.
There wasn't anything that Jackie was more proud of than her grandchildren. She attended their countless concerts, sporting events, birthday parties, and was even a flower girl in the Hudson wedding.
A celebration of life for Jackie will be held at a later date. Information regarding a date, time and location will be posted in the local newspapers and on Lakeside Memorial Chapel's website.
