Elaine 'Bunny' Perrero

CALUMET, Mich. — Elaine “Bunny” Perrero, 86, a resident of Calumet and Gardenview Assisted Living and Memory Care, passed away on Feb. 29, 2024.

Bunny was born on Nov. 22, 1937, in Iron Belt, Wisconsin, to Abel and Josephine (Clapero) Karinen. She graduated from Iron Belt High School and attended Gogebic Community College. On Oct. 10, 1958, she married John Perrero in Iron Belt. They made their home in Calumet where John taught at Calumet High School. Bunny was an excellent cook and baker — there was always a pot of coffee on and goodies for guests.

She enjoyed reading, doing crafts, babysitting, volunteering and getting together with her ladies’ group “The Young Moderns.”

Bunny was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Marilyn Karinen.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Dean) Hattula of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lauren (Randy) Rastello of Ahmeek; granddaughters, Holly Hattula of Phoenix, and Sara Rastello of Marquette; great-grndchildren, Alyssa, Charlotte and Ryan, all of Phoenix; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Gardenview and Aspirus Keweenaw Home Nursing and Hospice for their wonderful care. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests donations to 31 Backpacks and CLK Foundation for the Calumet High School Band.

A graveside service for Bunny and John will take place this spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet.

Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be left at ericksoncrowleypeterson.com.
