AT A March 13 meeting of the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners, Chairman James Lorenson, at right, presents a life-saving award to Jake Colassaco, who helped Shane and Hannah Cole, standing at left, to escape from their burning house on Jan. 6 in Marenisco. Colassaco is a native of Ironwood, a Hurley graduate, and a member of the Vilas County Sheriff's Department in Wisconsin. Before the presentation, Gogebic County Sheriff Ross Solberg recalled the details of the event, during which Colassaco pounded on doors and windows to wake up the young couple.
