Ironwood - Local musicians put the fun in fundraising Saturday night as they performed in "HIT Lights Up," an event designed to help in financing ongoing costs at the Historic Ironwood Theatre.
The 2-hour show featured 14 performers and 20 songs, ranging from rock to pop to country, with a consistent dose of high spirits among performers and the audience.
A core band and vocal group provided the base of the entertainment, and they warmed up the crowd with "Light Up," a song by Styx.
Beth Bordner, who also sang throughout evening, directed the show.
Lindsey Boehnlein, the theatre's administrative manager, also sang two country songs.
Don Osier, who had helped Mark Silver with the event's audio needs, substituted as bass guitarist at the last minute when Dave Cormier - who had practiced for weeks - could not participate due to illness.
Among special entertainers were Chris Skinner, playing a chapman stick, and Jesika Cane and Issac Boehnlein, playing the saxophone and trumpet, respectively.
Bordner said that Skinner, who coincidentally was celebrating his birthday on the same evening, was performing on stage for the first time.
One of the night's most high-energy performances was by Sarah Eder and Addison Eder, who rocked out to the Pat Benatar song "All Fired Up."
The show ended with a playful rendition of "You Can Call Me Al" by Paul Simon, during which the audience was invited to sing along.
