Snow continues to fall at Ironwood's Longyear Field on Tuesday afternoon. The Red Devils' track-and-field team was outside for the first week of practice before the weather turned, athletic director Dan Martinson said. Now, they're hoping it melts in time for the Kraemer Invitational set for April 29. It already doesn't look good for the first home games of the spring, he said. The baseball team's home opener is set for April 8 against Menominee. The Red Devils scheduled some early baseball and softball games to take advantage of the clear fields, and they were talking about adding some small local track meets with the typical indoor meets not happening in the Upper Peninsula this year, Martinson said, but their facilities are loaded with wet snow now, and the extended forecast doesn't look very warm.
