IRONWOOD, Mich. - Dorothy "Dots" Anne Kusz, 96, of Ironwood, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Aspirus Ironwood Hospital in Ironwood, with her family at her side.
Dorothy was born on March 21, 1928, in Ironwood, a daughter of Clinton and Teresa Hagelin.
On Nov. 18, 1948, Dorothy married John Kusz Sr. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ironwood. The late Rev. Frank Ronkowski officiated.
Dorothy loved her family gatherings. Doors were always open and everyone was welcome. She was famous for her spaghetti and meatballs. Dorothy loved canning, bowling and cross-country skiing.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; a sister, Betty Johnson (Slab); three brothers, Ray Hagelin (Arlene), Clinton Hagelin (Donna) and Bryon Hagelin (Josie).
Dorothy is survived by three sons, John Jr. (Sally) of Ironwood, Dennis of Finlayson, Minnesota, and Robert of Hurley, Wisconsin; two daughters, Christine D'Innocenzo (Tom) of Ironwood, and Linda Schaap (Sean) of Holland, Michigan; grandchildren, Wendy Kusz of New Auburn, Wisconsin, Angela Ranzau (Jon) of Carver, Minnesota, Sarah Merconti (Aaron) of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Tom D'Innocenzo of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Robert James Ceccon (Meredith) of Zeeland, Michigan, Aaron Schaap (Madison) of Denver, Colorado, and Camryn Schaap (Mark) of New Jersey; eight great-grandchildren, Abby, Avery, Brennan, Greta, Blake, Brady, Clayton and Corrine; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Aspirus Ironwood Hospital who cared for her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 28, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family Room at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 108 S. Marquette Street, in Ironwood, with the Rev. Brian Gerber, celebrant.
A luncheon will be served at the parish hall.
Rite of Committal and interment will take place at the Sunset Acres Cemetery in Ironwood Township.
