MERCER, Wis. - Bruce S. Wraalstad, 68, of Mercer, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Bruce was born to Selvin and Patricia (Wilson) Wraalstad on Oct. 25, 1955, in Mercer. He was united in marriage on Sept. 17, 1983, with Sally Eggleson.
Bruce was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Navy. He worked in aircraft on the ships and was accommodated for his skills in that field. Bruce and Sally met in Fort Atkinson and began their lifelong partnership. He went back to school at Blackhawk Tech in Janesville, received his A&P license and pursued a career in the field he loved.
Shortly after graduation they went to the air show in Oshkosh (with newborn, Erik) and he was offered a position in Kansas working on aircraft. Thirty-four years later he retired from Cessna/Textron and brought his family home to Wisconsin.
They purchased "Horn's Cabins" where his father had lived for over 40 years, and started restoring it and remodeling his new home with great skill. He loved the north woods, his family, extended family, Kansas "family" and friends and was always ready to lend a hand.
Bruce was a member of the American Legion Post 256 and the "40/8" in Wichita, Kansas. He joined the Mercer Loons Motorcycle Club in Mercer.
Everyone who knew him said "he was one 'helluva' of a nice guy." He will be missed by all but always in our hearts.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Sally; son, Erik (Abby Patrick) Wraalstad of Fort Atkinson; daughter, Kirsten Wraalstad of Minocqua; mother, Patricia; brothers, Gary (Andrea) Wraalstad, Wayne Wraalstad and Keith Wraastad; sister, Darlene Lochner; and his trusty dog, Laddie. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Selvin; his brother, Cecil David; brother-in-law, John Lochner; and sister-in-law, Marie Wraalstad.
A celebration of life is being planned at a later date.
