IRONWOOD, Mich. - Clyde Martin Taivalmaa, 77, of Erwin Township, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at home, surrounded by family.
Clyde was born July 4, 1946, the son of Martin and Helmi (Salo) Taivalmaa.
After graduating from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer, he enlisted in the National Guard for six years, attaining the rank of sergeant.
He then worked at United Parcel Service for 32 years.
On July 20, 1968, Clyde was united in marriage to his loving and devoted wife, the former Claudette Buchko, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, being outdoors and spending time with his six grandchildren.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Claudette; a son, Robert; two daughters, Lynette (Greg) Forslund and Carrie (Jason) Spets; six grandchildren, Nicole and Dylan Taivalmaa, Aaron and Ryan Forslund, and Connor and Brady Spets; a sister, Cheryl Taivalmaa, and her son, Zachary; his sister-in-law, Barbara Gheller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service was held at the Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Wakefield, and interment took place at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.
Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., assisted the family with arrangements.
