Margaret 'Peggy' Richardson Tuttle

WATERSMEET, Mich. - Margaret "Peggy" Richardson Tuttle, 83 years old, of Watersmeet, Michigan, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024.

She was born May 8, 1941, to the late Theodore and Martha (MacIntyre) Struve in Highland Park, Illinois.

Peggy was dedicated to early childhood education. As an early childhood educator and Head Start program director, she helped shape the lives of children and families for the better. Her impact stretched beyond the children she taught.

Peggy supported the children's families, helping them navigate parenthood. Her approach of "thinking outside the box" provided a positive and creative experience for children.

She engaged children with music and planned formal meals where children played an active role in the process, helping them develop pride and confidence in themselves. She organized countless adventures and experiences, giving them a foundation for life.

Peggy was active in her community as a member of the school board and the township road commission. She always saw the opportunities and possibilities that laid in Watersmeet. Peggy enjoyed life in the Northwoods, gardening, fishing, cooking, reading and socializing with friends. She also enjoyed good music, football and her beloved dog, Quincy. Peggy was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and their successes.

Survivors include her children, Sarah (Matt) Goodman and Andrew (Heather) Rullman; grandchildren, Eleanor and Grace Goodman; siblings, Phil (Fran) Struve and Beate Harnad; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Along with her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Tuttle.

A celebration to honor Peggy's life will be held at her home in the Northwoods at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St., Antioch, Illinois. For additional information, please call 847-395-4000.
