STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - Daniel E. Lane, 82, of Sterling Heights, died peacefully on Nov. 23, 2023, after a short illness. He was born on Jan. 22, 1941, in Ironwood.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Saima and Arvo Juutilainen; stepmother, Mary Juutilainen; as well as brothers, Gerald and William Juutilainen and Joseph Brozzo; and sisters, Darlene (Reno) Suliin and Linda (Bill) Marzack; and Roland Zanella.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia D. Lane of Ironwood; his daughter, Elizabeth A. Rodgers of Warren; granddaughters, Mackenzie, Alexis, Isabella and Ava Rodgers; sisters, Jeanie Zanella of Hurley, and Grace (WM) McDonald of Bessemer; and Jack Brozzo of Bessemer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Daniel attended grade school in Erwin Township and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1959. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy from June 1959 to June 1963. After leaving the Navy, he briefly worked for Anesite Corp. in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to Detroit, where he was employed by General Motors from 1965 until his retirement in 2006. He was a proud union worker and created lifelong friendships.
Daniel was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was a dedicated servant of the Lord. He served as an usher at Faith Lutheran Church in Troy for numerous years. He loved his family, reading, yard work, and traveling to the Northwoods to spend time with family and friends. He took great joy in photography and spent many enjoyable years with his faithful dog, Sparky.
Funeral Services will be held on July 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironwood.
