Douglas Paul Sobolewski

OMA, Wis. - Douglas Paul Sobolewski passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of June 18, 2024.

Doug was born on May 21, 1967, in Wakefield, Michigan. The son of Sharon Sobolewski, Doug grew up with his three brothers, Bruce, Donald and Jerry; and his sister, Tanya. Doug's family would relocate to Ironwood, where he graduated from Luther L. Wright High School. In 1991, Doug would meet the love of his life, Heidi (Exle) Sobolewski, and the two would marry in 1994. Together, they would raise his two daughters, Heather and Hillary Koski. During their childhood, Doug enjoyed taking them on several trips to Disney World.

Doug was close to his late brother, Donald, and the two often enjoyed a drink and a good football game together. Doug was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions and attended as many games as he could. He often loved to spend his free time with his late father-in-law, Fred Exle, working on various projects. He enjoyed a nice beer while mowing the yard every spring and football season every fall. Doug enjoyed the last 18 years of his life with his three grandchildren, Hillary's son and daughter, Curtis and Caylee Mewbourn; and Heather and John Hall's daughter, Claire Hall.

Doug loved coming home every day and spoiling his dog, Gus.

As part of his final wishes, Doug chose to donate his organs to help those in need.

Doug will be cremated and his family intends to honor him with a private ceremony. Those wanting to pay their respects can honor him by enjoying a good light beer while mowing their yard.

The family has chosen the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood to honor Doug's legacy of life. To make an online condolence, visit McKevittPatrickFuneralHome.com.
