Stephen Harrell

COROLLA, N.C. - Stephen Harrell, 66, passed away at his home in Corolla, on Monday, June 17, 2024.

Steve was born in Norfolk, Virginia.

He is predeceased by his parents, Jim and Marge Harrell of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

His survivors include his wife of 41 years, Debbie of Corolla; son, Joey, of Kill Devil Hills. He is also survived by in-laws, Dave and Sandy Machesky of Gile, Wisconsin; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Jim Simmons of Ironwood, Michigan; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Bobbi Machesky of Aitkin, Minnesota; four nieces and nephews, James, Alan, Danielle and Christine; and one great-nephew, Micah.

After graduating mortuary school in Boston, Steve worked as a funeral director for various funeral homes in northern Virginia before switching professions. Steve had a very successful career as a professional painter for over 30 years. His perfection of his craft brought him many notable clients as he traveled across the country at the side of his wife, Debbie, in her successful career with the FBI. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ironwood Township Building on July 20, at 4 p.m.
