Ironwood — Festival Ironwood is coming up on July 17, and organizers are preparing for four days of food, music and other festival fun.
The festival is held at the Historic Ironwood Depot park in downtown Ironwood, and it is a long-standing tradition for the area.
From live bands to kids’ fishing, the festival has a little something for everyone. Below is a schedule of major events broken down by day, so you can plan your trip accordingly. For a full list of events, view pages 10 and 11 inside.
Wednesday, July 17
4 p.m. — Opening reception for the Emberlight Festival of the Arts exhibits at the Ironwood Depot
6 p.m. — Fat Tire Club Ride starts at Depot Park
6:30 p.m. — Superior Riders Bike Ride starts from Cold Iron Brewing Company
Thursday, July 18
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Salem Lutheran Church Salad Luncheon at 333 E. Aurora Street
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Youth volleyball tournament for ages 13-18 years old (teams consist of four to eight members)
Noon — Historic Ironwood Theatre tour and silent movie.
4 p.m. — Festival Ironwood opening ceremonies
4:15 p.m. — Launching of the ducks and “the world’s largest duck pick”
10 p.m. — Daily 50/50 raffle drawing at Depot Park
Friday, July 19
10 a.m. — Dropping of the ducks and “the world’s largest duck pick”
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Kids’ activity day, featuring an obstacle course, basketball bounce game, inflatable toddler playground and more
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Trout pond offering kids’ catch and release (or have your fish cleaned on site)
Noon to 1 p.m. — Historic Ironwood Theatre tour and silent movie
1 p.m. – Kid’s woodchip scramble under the pavilion
1:30 p.m. — Watermelon-eating contest at Depot Park Pavilion
2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. — Luther L. Wright K-12 School Centennial Kick-off ceremony on the front steps of LLW building (transportation between Depot Park and LLW available)
2:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. — Live music at the Big Top
3 p.m. — Dropping of the ducks
5:30 p.m. — Cornhole tournament (ages 12 and older) with social and competitive divisions and pre-registration required at Depot
6:30 p.m. — Kids’ movie “Migration” at Historic Ironwood Theatre
10 p.m. — Daily 50/50 raffle drawing at Depot Park
Saturday, July 20
7 a.m. — Walk, Run and Roll registration
8:30 a.m. — Walk, Run and Roll race begins at the Big Top
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Old Depot car show
10 a.m. — Dropping of the ducks
10:30 a.m. — Hiawatha Park playground dedication at Hiawatha statue park
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — LLW Building tours
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Strawberry social at Depot pavilion
2 p.m. — Ironwood Chamber of Commerce Sunshine Summer $5,000 raffle drawing
2:30 p.m. — Dropping of the ducks
6 p.m. — Old Depot Car Show parade
6:30 p.m. — Marty’s Goldenaires performance at the Big Top
8 p.m. to midnight — Live music at the Big Top
11 p.m. — 50/50 raffle drawing
