IRONWOOD, Mich. – Carole Newman, 84, of Ironwood, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.
Carole was born on Oct. 7, 1939, at Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Wood) Cox. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1958.
Carole worked in Milwaukee as a typist clerk.
On Aug. 6, 1960, she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Newman in Wakefield. They celebrated nearly 63 years of marriage before his passing on April 15, 2023.
Carole was a member of the Ironwood congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She was a homemaker who loved baking, flower and vegetable gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
Carole is survived by a son, Timothy Charles (Annette), Ironwood; a daughter, Joyann Billie (Stacey) Chilson, Stratford, Wisconsin; a granddaughter, Abigail Ann Newman, Appleton, Wisconsin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, David Cox.
At Carole's request, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.
