IRONWOOD, Mich. - John P. Suzik, 82, of Ironwood, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at home with his family at his side.
John was born on July 26, 1941, in Evanston, Illinois, a son of John and Lucille (Stanczak) Suzik. After graduating from Luther L. Wright High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving most of his time overseas in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, John moved to Illinois and began a career as a tool and die maker, and found his love of Chicago hot dogs.
In 1997, he returned to Ironwood to be closer to his parents, and begin a career as a self-employed carpenter. There was nothing John couldn't build. He was still working at the age of 81, and made many wonderful friends along the way.
John is survived by his youngest sister, whom he was given the honor of naming, Kim (Ron) Pelkola; his brother-in-law, Dick (Suzie) May; many loving relatives from great-aunts to great-grandchildren; and lifelong friends, Dan, Larry and Bill.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the former Paulette Torro; a sister, Suzie; and a brother, Jimmy.
Per his request, cremation has taken place and the family will have a private interment.
