Lois R. Guso

SAXON, Wis. — Lois R. Guso, age 95, of Saxon, went to heaven on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Lois was born Jan. 26, 1929, in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel L. and Madeline (Walsh) Mostyn.

Lois became an executive secretary at a young age and worked for many influential executives. She worked for David Harrington of Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, as well as for an executive for a major airline company in Chicago and Rabbi Morris Hershman in Joliet, to name a few.

She loved spending summers at the family cabin in Wisconsin. She and her husband, Rocky, owned and operated Harbor Lights Tavern in the early 1970s. Her hobbies included going to garage sales, sewing, arts and crafts, cooking, collecting antiques, rock-picking along the beach, fishing and making wild berry jams. In her later years, Lois and Rocky would spend winters in St. Petersburg and Gulfport, Florida.

Lois volunteered at the Suncoast Hospice, cleaning a retail shop and pricing jewelry. She loved this opportunity to help others. In her mid 80’s, Lois and Rocky moved permanently to Wisconsin. She was then moved to a nursing facility in 2018.

Lois will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the staff at the nursing facility.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda “Lin” (Guso) Wietting; son-in-law, Edward Wietting; grandson, Jordan Wietting; and several nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roque “Rocky” Guso (2021); sister, Jeanette Stefanech; and brother, Thomas Mostyn.

Per Lois’s wishes, there will be no public funeral services at this time.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home, and cremation services, of Ashland and Mellen, Wisconsin.
