Nancy Marie Symons Blodgett

DULUTH, Minn. - Nancy Marie Symons Blodgett, a loving daughter, mother, grandma and nurse, passed away on July 14, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth with her children by her side.

Nancy was born on Nov. 30, 1963, to parents Robert and Lois Symons in Wakefield, Michigan. After graduating from A.D. Johnston High School in 1982, she went on to study nursing at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Michigan. Nancy was an intelligent, respected and compassionate registered nurse. She devoted her life to providing excellent care, compassion, dignity and comfort to those in need. Nancy's experience was vast as she worked in hospitals, correctional facilities, and assisted living facilities throughout her career. She held various roles, including RN, supervisory nurse, and director of nursing. Nancy's coworkers remember her fondly for her kindness and infectious sense of humor.

Her grandchildren, Landon Blodgett, Alena Blodgett and Raiya Dhala, were the light of her life. Nancy will forever be remembered for her unwavering, selfless love and pride in her family. To her children, she was not only a mother, but a best friend. She will be missed profoundly by her children and grandchildren.

Nancy truly lived life to the fullest. She loved cheering on the University of Michigan football team, watching baseball, four-wheeling, horse-riding, traveling, learning history, enthusiastically taking on home projects and loving on her spoiled fur-baby and rescue dog, Jax. Nancy's bond with Jax is a true testament of her love for animals and nurturing spirit.

Nancy was welcomed in heaven by her father, Robert Symons; and sister, Karen Niemi.

Nancy's legacy lives on through her mother, Lois Symons; her children, Kayla (Zubair) Dhala, Kyle (Brittany) Blodgett, and Joey (Miranda) Blodgett; her brothers, Robert (Wendy) Symons Jr. and John (Yvonne) Symons; her ex-spouse, Brian Blodgett; her grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. at the Bessemer VFW, 605 W. Lead Street, Bessemer, MI, 49911. Nancy's legacy of love, compassion and laughter will forever be remembered and cherished by all that knew her.
