A PARADE of vehicles protect a traveling sauna in the early morning hours of Aug. 8 as it traveled along Van Buskirk Road, on its way to the Erwin Township Historical Society's museum complex, where a prepared foundation awaited it. Society president Tom Pelissero said the sauna dates back to the late Mikko Keto, originally from Finland, who moved to America in 1899. He and his wife, Anna, originally used the sauna on their property at the northwest corner of South Davis and Pioneer roads. Current property owner Richard White donated the building, which was flanked, front and back, as it moved by members of the Gogebic County Sheriff's Office.
