Dora Christine Bogan

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Dora Christine Bogan, age 96, of Ironwood, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at the Aspirus Ironwood Hospital, with her family by her side.

Dora was born on April 28, 1928, in Bessemer, the daughter of the late John and Cristina (Costa) Pertile. She was a graduate of the A.D. Johnston High School class of 1947 in Bessemer. In 1948, she was united in marriage with Bernis Bogan at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. Dora was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood.

Dora was a devout Catholic throughout her life and was a very caring and selfless person, always thinking of others first. She enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting and crocheting. She always had a welcoming home full of baked goods and delicious meals. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

Dora is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Barbara) of Red Wing, Minnesota, and Thomas of Tucson, Arizona; five grandchildren: Dr. Christina (Dr. Ryan) Cusic of Edina, Minnesota, Dr. Sarah (Dr. Andrew) Bryan of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and Thomas Jr. (Courtney) Bogan, Karen (John) Bogan and Lisa (Forrest) Walker of North Carolina; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Avery, Cole, Davis, Vincent, Milo, Vivienne, Isaac, Jasmine and Levi.

In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Benjamin (infant); and her sisters, Mary and Rose.

Dora's family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Villa Maria Health and Rehab Center for the excellent care she received during her brief stay there. Also, the family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Aspirus Ironwood Hospital, who cared for her in her final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. with Father Brian Gerber officiating. The burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
